We've been riding these roads for years, telling friends they need to come out. Then they ask which turn to take on Shannonville Road, and we end up drawing a map on the back of a napkin. That part's over.
This spring, Tyendinaga Township is installing signs at every intersection across six new loop routes — from a quick hour near the rec complex to a full day through Shannon, Phillips, and Callaghan backroads. Show up at the kiosk at the rec complex on McFarlane Road, pick a loop, and go. Every turn confirmed. Every route brings you back to where you parked.
This is where the season starts! We're excited to partner with the township on monthly group rides from May through October, a Family Bike Rodeo on May 24, a Canada Day Rally on July 1, and a Halloween Ride to close the season. We hope you'll stop by and kick things off with us at the rodeo on Sunday (and cheer on the Melrose Gravel riders as they take off and return!)
This is what you've been hoping for — a way to share the best gravel roads with the friend you've been wanting to take out. The roads are signed. The season is scheduled. You just need to show up.
