After a washout of our original May 24 date, we’re happy to announce that the Bike Rodeo has been rescheduled for Wednesday, July 1, at the Tyendinaga Recreation Complex alongside the Township's Canada Day festivities!
Tyendinaga Township's Canada Day Bike Rally is a long-standing tradition that draws riders of all ages for a closed-road ramble. Over 200 riders turned out in 2025!
We hope you'll join us for the celebration, kicking off at 1:30 PM with the Bike Rodeo's structured skills program. Volunteers will help kids with helmet fit and a quick bike inspection, then walk them through a series of drills designed to teach the fundamentals: balance, braking, starting and stopping, scanning and handling simple obstacles.
We’re offering three levels so kids can work at a pace that's right for their age and experience.
Helmet and bike fit. Start and stop technique. Scanning and awareness. And the snail race — a slow-speed balance challenge where the last one across the line wins.
Everything in Basic, plus three drills that introduce real-world situations: rock dodge (avoiding obstacles), demon driveway (safely entering and exiting), and crazy crossroad (making decisions at intersections).
The full program, finishing on a short section of road closed to traffic — a chance to put it all together in a realistic but controlled setting.
Come as you are.
Whatever bike your kid rides — BMX, mountain bike, hand-me-down — bring it. We’ll have free safety checks available from 1-1:30 p.m. (first come, first served) and pump stations on site all afternoon. No fancy gear required.
While you’re there.
The Rodeo runs alongside the Tyendinaga Township Canada Day Celebration, so there’s plenty happening at the hall all afternoon, capping off with fireworks at dusk. Stroller parents, siblings, and non-riding families are all welcome.
