Slake Snake Registration

If you’ve been to Slake Brewing, you know about their driveway. The climb up is 340m long with 18m of elevation gain. It can’t that hard, right?

We think it’s a worthwhile challenge, and a top contender for the best Strava segment in the region.

This year we are back to conquer the segment called... the Slake Snake 🐍

With a route just over 300 metres long, the Slake Snake segment is achievable for anyone from occasional riders through to the pros. Our event is open to our entire community, with challengers ranging from parents with toddlers on board, to dogs in trailers, and even tandem couples. Wave to the spectators or put the pedal to the metal to secure your spot on the leaderboard, it’s up to you!

🍻
Slake’s property has one of the best views in PEC, and it offers indoor and outdoor options to hang out as a spectator for the race… oh, and there’s beer!

The Slake Snake Hill Climb is here to provide your required dose of post-season fun. We’ll start with an open field event where pairs of two riders at a time will challenge themselves to conquer the Slake Snake Strava segment (the driveway of Slake Brewery) with the aim to claim Strava’s Queen or King of the Mountain titles. Try the climb once or as many more times as you like for your chance to win Fastest Lap of the Day or to continue onto the knockout challenge...

After the open event we will seed the fastest 8 riders of the morning for a knockout style contest to find the day's champion! You don't have to take the Strava crown, but you can still expect prizes for the King, Queen, and the day’s overall fastest time. For the rest of us, there will be pints at the top of the hill.

All participants’ entry fee covers your first Slake brew after the climb, but Round 1 winners beware: you’ll be riding again, so you might want to save the suds for after your second run!

💸
Why is there a registration fee?

The registration fee of $25 helps us recover some of the cost of putting on the event, and it also covers the rider's first beverage at the top.

If you just want to give it a shot, are registering for a family, or just aren't sure about paying $25, you can still enter the Open Field at 10:00 AM for free. Riders who haven't paid the fee can still ride, but won't have their first beverage paid for at the top and won't qualify for the Knockout Challenge and prizes.

Coffee and hot chocolate are included!

You don’t need to be a pro, or even an endurance rider to take on this challenge: the route is achievable for anyone from occasional riders through to the pros. Wave to the spectators or put the pedal to the metal: you’re only racing the clock. Whether you choose to ride or not, you're welcome on the sidelines or at the top for high fives.

Bring a gravel bike, mountain bike, touring bike, hybrid—even a tandem if that’s your style! Are you a kid? A grandma? Only ever rode your bike downhill before? No problem--it's all in good fun. Don’t forget to rally up your spectators and rig them with bells and whistles to cheer you on from the sidelines. Warm up with Rebel Taco chili and Slake brews after your effort.

This event will happen rain or shine, so be prepared for any November weather as a rider or as a spectator.
